Cefixime, an antibiotic, is a third-generation cephalosporin. Cefixime is an antibiotic medication used to treat a number of bacterial infections. These infections include otitis media, strep throat, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, and Lyme disease.

* Consult your doctor before taking this medicine in the following cases:

- You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to Cefixime or to other cephalosporin antibiotics.

- If you are prone to Colititis, Liver disease, renal daises

- If your child is under the age of 6 months

- If you are taking Anticoagulants

- Before performing any diagnostic laboratory tests or taking contraceptive.

Directions for Use:

Adults: 200-400 mg/day PO in single daily dose or divided q12hr

Children 6 month to 12 years old of age (weighting 50 kg or less): usual dose: 8 mg/kg/day as a single daily dose, or may be given 2 divided doses as 4 mg/kg every 12 hours.

*Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

*Use this medication for the full-prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Cefixime will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.

*Treatment of infections due to Streptococcus pyogenes, cefixime should be administered for at least 10 days

Adverse Effects:

Gastrointestinal side effects: Abdominal pain, Dyspepsia, Diarrhea, Nausea and Vomiting

Allergic reaction: Fever, Rash, Urticaria

CNS side effects: Dizziness, Headache

Pregnancy:

It is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant. It is not known whether cefixime passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. You may need to stop nursing while you are taking cefixime.

Instructions for mixing powdered medication into suspensions:

Gently shake the bottle to loosen the powder. Open the cap.Carefully add cool boiled water to about half the height of the final marking on the bottle. Close the cap. Shake the bottle until all the powder is thoroughly mixed. Open the cap. Carefully add water till the final marking on the bottle. Close the cap. Invert the bottle and shake the bottle vigorously for at least 5 seconds to get an even suspension. The suspension is then ready for oral intake. The plastic oral

syringe is included in the package.

*The reconstituted suspension may be stored for 7 days at ambient conditions (30ºC) or 14 days at ambient conditions (below 30ºC) Refrigerated conditions
