Zaxime (Cefixime) is an antibiotic that belonging to third generation of cephalosporines that is used orally in treatment of infectants such as gonorrhoea, otitis media, pharyngitis, bronchitis and tract infections
Basic instructions for proper use of drugs:
This medication is prescribed for your current condition, therefor do not use it in similar cases or do not recommend it to others.
Before taking this medication with your doctor in the following cases:
•    In the case of sensitivity to penicillens, cephalosporines, penicillamine and their derivatives, Griseofulvin and also sensitivity to other materials such as foods, protecting materials and colors
•    History of gastrointestinal diseases, including gastritis, duodenal ulcer, colitis and kidney disease.
•    Patients receiving anticoagulants. (Cefixime may increase the prothrombin time )
•    Before doing any type of laboratory testing or use of birth control pills
•    In case of diarrhea after taking this medication. (avoid Taking any medication without consulting a doctor).
Administration and Dosage:
The doctor determines the dosage of the medication, the usual dosage of the drug are as follows:
•    Adults (over 12 years) 200 to 400 mg daily. A single dose or in two divided doses (every 12 hours)
•    In Bladder infections, skin and its appendages, soft tissue and finally pharyngitis caused by Streptococcus cephalexin 500 mg oral dose every 12 hours.
•    Children (6 months to 12 years): 8 mg per kg of body weight every 24 hours or 4 mg per kilogram of body weight every 12 hours to a maximum of 400 mg per day.
•    It is recommended using  suspension of cephalexin for children.
•    Babies: for babies under six months, taking of drug  should be done under the supervision of a physician.
•    Take the drug at regulate intervals and with meal or empty stomach  and complete treatment course. In the case of digestive irritation, take it along with mealing.
•    If you forget a dose of medicine, take it as soon as you remember, but if is  almost time to take the next turn, take prescribed dose and do not duplicate it.
Pregnancy and lactation
This drug belonging to group B and it’s using in pregnancy and lactation, is allowed only with a doctor's prescription.
Side Effects
Each drug along with desired therapeutic effects, may cause some unwanted symptoms. Although all of this symptoms, is not seen in one person, but in the event of any of the following symptoms consult with your doctor:
•    Gastrointestinal side effects including diarrhea and changes in stools, nausea, vomiting "indigestion and abdominal pain
•    Allergic reactions including drug fever, rash, hives, itching
•    Central nervous system effects such as headache and dizziness
Poisoning
In the case of sudden over prescribed dose usage of this drug, stop treatment and transfer the patient to medical center immediately.
Maintenance
•    Keep drug away from moisture and light and below 30°C (preferred 15-30°C) and keep in original pack
•    Do not use expired drug
•    Keep away from children reach.

•    Zaxime 400 mg film-coated tablets are released in 20 numerical boxes
•    Zaxime 200 mg capsules are released in 20 numerical boxes
